Project Manager – Food Industry Exp. Los Angeles
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Manager is responsible for the development & commercialization of assigned projects. They will serve as the point of contact between, customers, sales, and the internal team to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for leading minor and major projects from concept to commercialization
• Primary customer contact and liaison during the project
• Facilitates meetings
• Contributes to the cost analysis of the overall project
• Manages, coordinates, and facilitates all aspects of the project with all departments of the internal team to ensure customer goals are in alignment with business objectives
• Effectively communicate program status or updates to leadership, prepare stage gate review information, facilitate stage gate approvals
• Identify critical business needs, and Go-to-Customer requirements, drive efficiencies in business processes and systems to ensure commercial success
• Characterize, resolve, or escalate commercialization issues
• Effectively translates customer’s requirements internally
• Alert appropriate parties regarding potential issues/changes from the original plan
• Characterize, resolve, or escalate commercialization issues
• Works with sales to complete any necessary customer onboarding paperwork
• Coordinates the trials, first production runs, and post reviews
SUPERVISION REQUIRED
The Project Manager works under limited supervision, on all assigned projects. They are subject to review by other members of management, as directed, to ensure compliance with department/company objectives and policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The person in this position does not supervise other employees, but has authority for:
• Ensuring compliance with internal processes and standards.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field, Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent experience and 4+ years of professional experience in Commercialization or Project Management roles
• Experience in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
• Excellent Project management and organizational skills: the ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills; must be confident and at ease dealing with a variety of personalities, both internally and externally; must be a facilitator, and have conflict resolution skills. Must be able to develop strong business relationships with individuals serving as part of the project team, internal and external resources, and customers
• Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written as well as presentation skills
• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to manage multiple, and sometimes conflicting, priorities as well as multiple tasks/projects simultaneously while meeting the company’s commitments including project deadlines, quality, budget, and customer expectations; must have the resiliency to work extended hours, when required, specifically for proposal responses with specific time deadline
• Must have advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, etc.)
• Must be available to travel (minimal need)
• Knowledge of TraceGains and or Genesis
