Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant helps directs the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for ensuring that company accounting policies and procedures are adhered to and makes updates to said policies when required. He/She works with the Company’s external auditor to complete the annual audit.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with a team of accountants, accounts payable, and regional office managers.
- Ensure compliance with all company, federal, state, and local laws and ethical business practices related to accounting operations and financial reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions
- Prepare, deliver, and analyze weekly cash flow statement and make recommendations to maintain and/or improve cash position.
- Prepare, deliver, and analyze internal financial statements to various recipients using clear and concise approach.
- Monitor and analyze restaurant expenses, food costs, and operational costs to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Assist preparation of annual budget for Restaurant and Real Estate/Aviation divisions.
- Oversee inventory management and valuation, including regular physical counts and reconciliations.
- Oversee compliance and execution of treasury/bank functions.
- Utilize technology to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency in accounting cycle.
- Partner with Operations team to identify areas of opportunity with respect to controls and/or spending in the restaurants.
- Assist in the preparation for annual financial audits and liaise with auditors during the audit process.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to improve the financial performance of each restaurant.
- Review and approve as necessary journal entry batches, check runs, and outgoing wires.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required. CPA certification is a plus.
- At least 3 years’ accounting experience in this role or similar
- Restaurant experience is a plus
- Experience with Restaurant 365 accounting system is required.
