Manufacturing company with 300+ employees seeks dynamic, driven Human Resources professional to develop and manage our HR department.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Talent development and management
  • Proactively engage with managers and supervisors to help develop and maintain their own skills and those of their subordinates
  • Work directly with employees to develop and maintain a motivated, engaged and high-performing workforce
  • Develop and run recruiting process to attract highly talented new hires – including job postings, conducting interviews, and working with management to select top candidates
  • Establish and maintain a recruiting and interviewing program that counsels managers on candidate selection, conducting interviews and selecting the best candidates to fill the position
  • Source contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms, or relocation services
  • HR support
  • Work closely with other members of the strategic management team, as a valuable team player committed to support the goals of the team and of the company
  • Develop and maintain a human resources system that meets top management information needs
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures
  • Provide support to managers and employees with general human resources tasks, including job descriptions, discipline and write-ups, and other HR functions
  • Analyze wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation plan
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops & reviewing professional publications
  • Competently and confidently answer legal and best-policy HR, benefits, and employment questions
  • Ensure that company policies comply with federal and state law, including all training requirements
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; counseling employees and supervisors; and administering performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within organization
  • Manage employee relations, resolving questions and concerns, conducting investigations and making recommendations for effective resolution
  • HR and benefits administration
  • Maintain organized personnel files and other HR documentation, ensuring legal compliance and consistency with HR best-practices
  • Conduct new employee onboarding, including review, verification and processing of all new hire paperwork, orientation and benefits enrollment
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations
  • Advise management on employee benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs
  • Manage and administer employee benefit programs, such as life, health and dental insurance, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance
  • Administer leaves of absence including PDL, FMLA/CFRA, PFL and ensure timely notification and compliance with policies and laws
  • Keep records of benefits plans participation such as insurances and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, time and attendance, disciplinary actions and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
  • Manage open enrollment process including working with broker to coordinate and attend open enrollment meetings and process employee paperwork
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation process and maintaining documentation and follow-up with insurance carrier
  • Investigate accidents and prepare reports for insurance carrier. Manage company safety program
  • Prepare budget of human resources operations
  • Coordinate and schedule ongoing management training for legal compliance and development

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Federal and California employment laws and the ability to interpret those laws
  • Excellent communication skills – bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Ability to effectively and reliably present accurate information and respond to questions from management and employees
  • Ability to communicate difficult information in a way that preserves dignity and respect for individuals
  • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity and ability to keep information confidential
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and use discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence clearly and professionally

Education and Experience:

  • 7+ years’ experience in Human Resources, with at least 3 years of experience in a managerial role in an organization
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or equivalent work experience is required
  • A certificate in human resources from an accredited institution preferred
